Artists-in-residence Stella Barnes and Nickey Bashall
Stella Barnes works nationally and internationally in theatre-making and cross-arts processes, often with intergenerational, intercultural, multilingual, disabled and non-disabled groups and individuals. She is currently researching a contemporary story-telling project about migration and the tensions between hostility and hospitality.
Nicky Bashall works as a socially engaged participatory artist and creative producer working across a range of art forms including theatre, dance/movement, film and poetry. She works with groups and communities in diverse social and political contexts and has a long-term commitment to working with refugee and migrant communities. As a disabled artist she is interested in the current politics around disability arts, work and the welfare state.
Nicky is currently developing a new theatre piece in collaboration with Stella Barnes, Antonia Kemi Coker and Mojisola Adebayo, based on her own writing. She has also been writing poetry for the last ten years.
