NB Selina Cooper

Selina Cooper is a 55ft long motor-less narrow boat conceived, designed and built in collaboration with Humraaz  and launched in Burnley on the Leeds to Liverpool Canal for International Womens Day 2016.
Selina Cooper was created as part of Idle Women's inaugural touring project On The Water (2015-2017) The boat now permanently moored at the physic garden in Nelson provides a residential base for visiting women and can host up to 12 women for indoor workshops.
She was named Selina Cooper is in honour of local working class suffragist (4 December 1864 – 11 November 1946) who lived, worked and died a couple of streets away from where the narrow boat is now permanently moored in Nelson.
The Graphic Novel: Idle Women on the Water A brick throwin',hijab-wearin', hairy-legged, space takin' odyssey by Candice Purwin published in 2021 documents the first two years of the Selina Cooper
